If you're fast and use small wire, you can weld 22ga sheetmetal. But let's be honest...if you're a pipefitter looking for a site rig, look elsewhere.Usually, you can judge the quality of the drive deck by the length of the torch lead. With this Maxus, both leads are 10 feet long...same as the 'big name' machines. In fact, the torch head is remarkably similar to one you would buy in a "blue box". The ground clamp is medium duty with a decent spring and a very thick braided interconnect between the jaws. The ground lead itself is not crimped on, but is actually bolted through the clamp to the jaw.
