The grinder is similar to ones we used in the classroom over the 7 weeks of classes so I felt very comfortable in using it right out of the box. It does what it supposed to do and it does it well. I have used both grinding bits, the larger 1" and smaller 1/4". I like that it has a "second story" work surface to use while on the 1/4" bit. I had gotten used to "hand-holding" glass at that bit, but it's nice to have a steady surface. Users should be aware that water and debris does fly out from the bit and the optional folding vinyl backdrop ( tri-fold screen ) is really a great and useful addition.
